Trump to end family separations at border

President Trump took a step back from his “zero-tolerance” policy on illegal immigration today, announcing he would sign an Executive Order to stop the family separations at the US – Mexico border.

The move comes following days of fierce protest and reaction across the country regarding the policy. Despite Trump’s previous claims, there is no law that requires children be removed from their parents at the border.

The Executive Order would still charge adults with illegal entry into the United States. The children would no longer be separated from the parents during the detention process. The details have not been finalized, but the proposed plan may run afoul of a 1997 court settlement regarding child detentions.
