US to end prosecuting illegals who cross with children

Thursday, the Border Patrol announced they would no longer file criminal charges against illegals entering the United States with children. This comes after President Trump signed an Executive Order to end the “zero tolerance” policy put in place by the Department of Justice.

The decision may spur the release of families being held in Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facilities, which are lacking space.

Adults entering the United States will still be charged with illegal entry, a misdemeanor. The majority of those charges are sentenced to time served awaiting their trial date.
